In exclusivity, Keonnected offers you to choose between the POP3 or IMAP protocols to receive all your e-mails !
«Very well, but what are these protocols?»
The POP3 protocol
(for Post Office Protocol Version 3)
is a method which allows to retrieve your electronic
messages on a remote server and store them
locally on your PC.
It is often used as it is simple and user-friendly.
Each time you access your e-mail account,
your application connects to the server,
receives the list of new e-mails and requests
their dowloads onto your computer.
The e-mails are then deleted from the server.
When the download of the new messages is finished, your Internet connection is not any more used. This protocol is very useful when you have a modem or a low-speed connection or when you use a laptop computer which is not permanently connected to the Internet.
The IMAP protocol
(for Internet Message Access Protocol) keeps all your e-mails on the server. Every time you want to read a message, your computer must be connected to the Internet to be able to read it from the server. If you use several computers (at the office, at home, or on-the-go such as a laptop), this option will undoubtly attracts you.
This system is more demanding in terms of capacity of connectivity, but much more flexible in its use.
With IMAP you can:
-
Sort your e-mails using more criterions
-
Gain access to your e-mails on all your computers
-
Manage several e-mails inboxes
